The Indian Institute of Sustainability is known for its collaborative culture. Research and education at the Institute rely on the Institute’s centres and interdisciplinary initiatives (hereafter referred to as “centres”), which bring together clusters of faculty and students from diverse intellectual backgrounds to collaborate on inherently complex and often interdisciplinary problems. Additionally, they may provide our professors with space, infrastructure, and services to conduct these research initiatives, in addition to assisting in the establishment of research grants and programmes.
Each centre is a home for seminar series and visiting researchers. They also facilitate interinstitutional collaborations via local, national and international consortiums. These individuals also ensure that our students and postdoctoral fellows have access to an array of educational resources.
They are better equipped to deal with today’s complex and perplexing problems on a national and global scale when professors and students have the opportunity to engage in cross-disciplinary research.
A large number of highly successful centres are essential to the Institute’s continued success. Due to these factors, we have implemented a set of best practises in our centres that will help them remain productive, successful, and efficient in the future.
